A New American "Mood" hits Kew Gardens
Driving up 83rd Ave in Kew Gardens I caught sight of a new awning and what looked to be a new restaurant next to the pottery shop. Last night I walked over to get a closer look.
Once occupied by a place called "Coconuts" - not the record store - the space now hosts what appears to be a hip New American retaurant called Mood. I AM VERY EXCITED ABOUT THIS. Back at the mall, where I live, there are a host of tasty places to eat, but nothing like this (Rouge is about the closest.)
Some menu highlights:
*Skillet Roasted Herbed Chicken (wild mushrooms, potato hash, baby carrots, redwood creek cabernet sauce)
*Grilled Filet Mignon (winter vegetable gratin, onion herb relish)
*Spiced Asian Duck Breast (stir-fried noodles, sweet & sour port sauce)
Taking a quick peek inside, the place was pretty full for a Monday night. The bar was full as well, so we didn't stop in for a drink. I'm very curious to see their wine list.
Dinner will be had there very soon! Details to come...

Glavine: Bury the Hatchett
Today is the Mets season opener. I'm going to Bliss before the game because I know by the end of the game my teeth will be clenched and my shoulders in knots. Not to mention neck strain from glaring at the TV from the barstool I'll inevitably be sitting in.Glavine went 0-4 against his former team, the Braves, last year. This from a two-time Cy Young award winner, and eight-time NL all-star.
Tom - get over it already. Lets start the season off right this year.

Fixing the Boulevard of Death?
NY1 reports Mayor Bloomberg announced the final round of pedestrian safety improvements to Queens Boulevard, aka the Boulevard Of Death.
Perhaps if the road had not been allowed to be widened to highway proportions to begin with, this would not be an issue. (Some speculate it was the city's original plan to transform QB into a highway.)
